I am a family nurse practitioner and IBCLC-candidate in the Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia. Not only do I see patients of all ages for holistic primary care, I see moms – new and old – for all things infant feeding!
As a new mom, I quickly realized breastfeeding is hard! The best form of infant nutrition is not easy to provide – no wonder so many mommas drop it before meeting their goals. With so few breastfeeding knowledgeable individuals near me, I took the matter into my own hands to become what lacked in my community. Now, 300 patient care hours and 90 education hours behind me, I am a candidate to take the next IBCLE exam to be certified as a breastfeeding and infant nutrition specialist.
Important to me is that I am a woman of faith. I am inspired by the verse 2 Peter 1:3 “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness.” To me, this means God has given us what we need for healthy lives. Just as he calls many people to many different things, I believe God called me to pray for healing and offer evidence-based, practical, and holistic knowledge on best health practices.
As a nurse practitioner I focus on metabolic and holistic health. I am currently pursuing certification as a metabolic health specialist and exercise expertise through personal training certification. As I tell my patients, my four basic principles for health are: stay hydrated, eat well, move your body, and sleep!
